How I found the perfect watch with Swatch…

img_6750-1

If there is one thing I love more than shopping, it is discovering new places to shop that I hadn’t really before. I had obviously heard of the Swiss watch brand Swatch, however for some reason never shopped there. The main reason being is, i’ve never really been that much into watches and only ever wore my rose gold Marc Jacobs one. However, since visiting a Swatch store I have recently become obsessed! I had no idea they had so many different styles and (after much deliberation!), opted for a silver watch for a change with some bling, named Pure Powder*. Continue reading

Haematite: The £3 healing bracelet

Lacey 1

When I first set eyes on this wee bracelet I thought it was sparkly and cute, then when I realised it had healing powers I was intrigued… when I saw it was £3? I was sold! The bracelet is made from round haematite stones and a sparkling hand set crystal bead on a stretchy jeweller’s elastic. With an RRP of £19 down to £3, not only is it a bargain, it could benefit more than your purse…

Made from Haematite, the mineral from of iron, this bracelet is a lot more than beautiful arm candy. It claims to have several healing powers, including helping with blood flow, increasing positivity and even claims to help heal broken bones.

So what is Haematite I hear you ask?

Haematite is known as the blood stone and the name comes from the Greek word for blood, but don’t let the slate-grey colour fool you, apparently if you crack it open, the stones are a deep red colour inside.

What does Haematite do?

After scouring the web, I have found some interesting facts about haematite. The stone is known for its healing properties and there are a long list of health and mental well-being factors attached to it. Here are a few benefits of wearing haematite. There are claims that Haematite:

  • Stimulates iron absorption in the small intestine, which in turn improves oxygen supply to the body, helps with blood flow and regulates blood pressure.
  • Improves confidence, self-esteem and attracts positive energy,
  • Cools down the body temperature. The beads are ice cold at first, then heat up with the body, so ideal for cooling you down.
  • Can help with nerves, aid sleep and help de-stress.
  • It even claims to improve spinal alignment and aid the healing of broken bones.

The Verdict

Does it work? Well it is hard to say, I have been wearing my bracelet for around a month now and I don’t know if it’s all in my head but I have noticed a few differences. I am usually pretty sceptical about “healing properties” but I have noticed that I’m not as stressed out and seem to be all round a bit happier, whether that is because it’s almost summer I don’t know but I would like to believe the stones played a part in it! Whether you believe it or not, for £3 it’s worth a try, right?

“Lacey” Haematite Bracelet, £3 can be bought at any Warren James stores or online herelacey 4

Cocktails & Fairytales goes to… The Scottish Wedding Show 2015

Being a blogger can have many perks, reviewing the latest products, attending launches and… having an excuse to go to The Scottish Wedding Show. As someone who isn’t engaged, it can look a little (okay, a lot) crazy going to a wedding fair. However, in the name of research and thinking of my lovely followers, I got in touch and I was invited along. So, with my bride-to-be bestie Louise, we attended the Sunday show.

wedding show 1

The event took place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) which is easy accessible by train, and is only around 3 minutes away from Glasgow Central Station.

Walking in, there were stands everywhere so we had a wander around, collecting leaflets and brochures along the way. There were a few people asking us who the bride was and as soon as they found out it wasn’t me, I was completely ignored. However, the majority of the exhibitors were lovely and spoke to the both of us equally. wedding show 3

Unfortunately, no photographs were allowed during the catwalk show. The show included Bridal and bridesmaid gowns from; Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Bridal Boutique, Angelique Lamont, Berketex Bride and Joyce Young for By Storm. The catwalk also featured Groomswear from Clan Kilts and Slater Menswear.

We arrived just after 11am and left around 2pm, which gave us plenty of time to see everything.  We stopped off mid-way for some light refreshements! The Cocktail Bar was sponsored by Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group and The Best Scottish Weddings magazine. The bar staff were charming and showing off fancy tricks. With a stocked bar offering cocktails, wine, beer and soft drinks, we opted for Prosecco and sat at the lit up tables.

With hundreds of exhibitors to look round, from cars to cakes and magicians to gowns, there was plenty to keep us entertained. There were so many to choose from, but here were my highlights of the day…

Fake Bake

Wandering around the stall, it was hard to miss the bright pink stand, set out like a living room, I was attracted immediately. The set was my ultimate dream home!

I chatted to Nicki, who told me all about the new Fake Bake Beauty at Home Parties, where you can gather the girls round and a Fake Bake party host will come to your home. Perfect for hen parties, this allows you to shop in the comfort of your living room and ask the experts all your beauty queries. The range includes Skin D-Luxe Skincare, Scream & Pout Make-Up, Dolce Dreams for Bath & Body and of course the Fake Bake tan products.  For more info go to: https://www.fakebakebeauty.co.uk/

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Bridal Boutique

Situated in East Kilbride, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Bridal Boutique stock Bridal, Bridemaid, Flower Girl dresses, as well as Mother of the bride outfits. They also have a range of veils, tiaras and shoes, and offer a Dressing Service and Steaming Service.wedding 7

Walking towards the stand, I fell in love with this stunning gown. The sweetheart neckline and crystal detail makes this gown fit for a princess!

Waterside Weddings

As someone who isn’t interested in the SLIGHTEST at cars, I immediately fell in love with this 1966 Volkswagen Campervan! What an amazing way to arrive to get married!

Waterside Weddings has been around for 15 years and has some beautiful classic cars, including this fabulous 1956 Buick Riviera Special.

Smile Bright

Something that every bride craves on her wedding day is a diamond-white smile. Smile bright is a new non-peroxide treatment you can do in the comfort of your own home. The gel claims to remove the stains from your teeth rather than bleach over them.

We were offered a free sample, and after having it on for only a few minutes, I actually noticed a slight difference in my teeth. The kit sounds like really good value for money and I was really impressed so I would be interested in trying it again.

The Original Beauty Glowwedding show 2

When were stopped and asked if we wanted to try this new bronzer, we jumped at the chance. The Original Beauty Glow is a bronzing powder with built in moisturiser that gives an instant tan. The tan is waterproof and doesn’t go patchy. It claims to suit all skin tones, which is why there is only the one shade.

We both had the bronzer applied to our faces, and also on one hand to show the difference against the other hand, which resulted in a deep, even tan. As someone with naturally fair skin, I was pleasantly surprised as it gave me a nice glow. I would definitely be interested in reviewing this product, so stay tuned!

Supernova Wedding Design & Flowers

This was another stand that caught my eye, with different table set out to display centerpieces, flowers, back drops and lighting. With styles to suit everyone, this stand was gorgeous!

My personal favourite was this pretty table with beautiful fresh flowers, pillar candles and vintage gold accessories. For more info go to: http://www.supernovaweddingdesign.co.uk/

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Overall, The Scottish Wedding Show was a fab day out and such a good laugh. My top tips would be; make sure you get there early, go with the girls instead of your hubby-to-be as I spotted a lot of bored looking men and leave the car and take the train… trust me, the cocktail bar is hard to resist!

Were you at the show this weekend I would love to hear what you thought, comment below! Xx

Goodbye 2014… HELLO 2015!

happy new year

Yes, I know I am a bit late, but better late than never right? I hope you all had a lovely New Years Eve and hope 2015 is a good one. I saw in the New Year over in sunny (and freezing) Spain which was wonderful, but different.

I spent it with around 30 of my boyfriends family and I was introduced to ‘Las Campanadas’, the tradition of eating 12 grapes in the countdown. Each grape represents a month of the following year and means good luck!

I did manage to stuff all 12 in my mouth, so I am hoping for a lucky 2015 and hope you all have one too!
