How I found the perfect watch with Swatch…

If there is one thing I love more than shopping, it is discovering new places to shop that I hadn’t really before. I had obviously heard of the Swiss watch brand Swatch, however for some reason never shopped there. The main reason being is, i’ve never really been that much into watches and only ever wore my rose gold Marc Jacobs one. However, since visiting a Swatch store I have recently become obsessed! I had no idea they had so many different styles and (after much deliberation!), opted for a silver watch for a change with some bling, named Pure Powder*. Continue reading

Freedom Professional London Makeup Review

As I was strolling through Superdrug looking for makeup I totally needed did not need at all, I came across a brand called Freedom. I had heard of this brand before, but never tried it. The range is from the same creators of Makeup Revolution which I have used before and was so impressed at the price. I was looking forward to trying this and picked up a few items I liked the look of to try. This is what I thought of them…

e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner Review

When it comes to lining our eyes, we have a lot of choices these days – pencils, khol, shadows and creams. Depending on the look you’re going for, each format has a different result. I have been recently favouring creams and shadow liners for a softer look. I have heard a lot about budget brand e.lf. but never really used it much, so when I saw this I thought I would give it a try…

Garnier Moisture Bomb 3-in-1 Moisturiser Review

Anyone who has travelled on a long-haul flight will know how dry your skin can get. If I had to pick one beauty item to take travelling, it would be moisturiser. All that air-con and lack of sleep can really cause havoc with your skin, leaving it dry and scaly. Before I left for New Zealand, I was looking for an intensive moisturiser that I could slather on whilst flying, so I headed to Superdrug to see what I could find.

I came across Garnier Moisture Bomb and was intrigued with its claim to “recharge(s) the skin with hydration and helps protect it from external aggressions.” Well there is nothing more aggressive to the skin than a 40+ hour journey across the world that’s for sure! So in my hand luggage it went, along with my high hopes for this ‘wonder cream’. Read on to see what I thought of it…

What Garnier say: “More than a moisturiser, Moisture Bomb 3-in-1 Moisturiser recharges the skin with hydration and leaves it feeling protected from external aggressions.

“For the first time, Garnier has integrated in a new generation, ultra-light texture: Two antioxidant superfruit extracts: Amla and Pomegranate, combined with daily UVA/UVB protection and a high concentration of Plant Serum Its fresh texture melts immediately on contact with the skin and hydrates it perfectly all day long. No greasy or sticky effect.”

What I say: If you’re thinking that ‘it sounds too good to be true’, then you would be thinking the same as I did. Hydrates skin all day long? No way. Well actually, yes way. This moisturiser kept my skin soft and supple during my journey, I did apply it every few hours but that was me being paranoid that my skin would get really dry. However, I had nothing to worry about.

Since the flight I have been using it every day and it has kept my skin silky soft. It feels really thick and luxurious and it leaves my skin feeling like velvet. It lives up to its claim of not leaving a greasy or sticky residue, as it sinks right in. it also contains SPF10 which is great for every day wear. I also love the packaging, the pump lets you disperse how much you need which minimises waste, and the bright blue colour of the bottle is ‘summery’ and fresh.

The Verdict
Overall, I LOVE IT. I am so happy I tried it as it has been the best ‘drug-store’ moisturiser I have used in a long, long time and it is such a great product for the price. I would definitely recommend it and I think i’ll try the Garnier Moisture Bomb Night Cream next!

Garnier Moisture Bomb 3-in-1 Hydrating Day Cream 50ml, £7.99, Superdrug.

Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara Review

Hello everyone! It has been a wee while since I’ve written and decided to get that sorted! It´s been a mad few months, between being busy at work and a family passing, I haven’t had much chance to write. I have been waiting for something to jump out at me and oh have I found it!

revlon 1

It happened by chance, I was in Superdrug looking for my usual Revlon Mascara only to not find it anywhere, but instead a new range of mascaras. Distraught that my usual had been discontinued, I grumpily chose one and set off to pay.

The next morning, (after calming down!) I decided to give it a bash. There are five mascaras in the new range by Revlon, I choose the Ultra Volume Mascara, in 001 Blackest Black, as I have fairly long natural lashes but not very thick. Here is what I found…

What they say: Conditioning, clump-free formula plumps lashes. Revlon Lash Plumping Brush™ features triple grooves designed to hold formula for maximum volume and short and long bristles designed to comb every lash and eliminate clumps.

What I say: I’ll admit that I was fully expecting to hate this product… but I can confess that I actually LOVE IT. The wand is a decent size, quite thick which reaches all the lashes, coating them evenly. There are never any clumps and doesn’t give my eyelashes that ‘spidery’ look. It makes my lashes appear thicker and the brush does a good job of separating them. Also for not being waterproof mascara it doesn’t smudge and stays put throughout the day.

The Verdict

I love this new mascara and at £9.99 it’s a bargain buy. I look forward to trying a few of the others in the range and I am embracing the new changes and officially forgive Revlon…

Have you tried this mascara or any others from the range? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Haematite: The £3 healing bracelet

Lacey 1

When I first set eyes on this wee bracelet I thought it was sparkly and cute, then when I realised it had healing powers I was intrigued… when I saw it was £3? I was sold! The bracelet is made from round haematite stones and a sparkling hand set crystal bead on a stretchy jeweller’s elastic. With an RRP of £19 down to £3, not only is it a bargain, it could benefit more than your purse…

lacey 2

Made from Haematite, the mineral from of iron, this bracelet is a lot more than beautiful arm candy. It claims to have several healing powers, including helping with blood flow, increasing positivity and even claims to help heal broken bones.

So what is Haematite I hear you ask?

Haematite is known as the blood stone and the name comes from the Greek word for blood, but don’t let the slate-grey colour fool you, apparently if you crack it open, the stones are a deep red colour inside.

What does Haematite do?

After scouring the web, I have found some interesting facts about haematite. The stone is known for its healing properties and there are a long list of health and mental well-being factors attached to it. Here are a few benefits of wearing haematite. There are claims that Haematite:

  • Stimulates iron absorption in the small intestine, which in turn improves oxygen supply to the body, helps with blood flow and regulates blood pressure.
  • Improves confidence, self-esteem and attracts positive energy,
  • Cools down the body temperature. The beads are ice cold at first, then heat up with the body, so ideal for cooling you down.
  • Can help with nerves, aid sleep and help de-stress.
  • It even claims to improve spinal alignment and aid the healing of broken bones.

The Verdict

Does it work? Well it is hard to say, I have been wearing my bracelet for around a month now and I don’t know if it’s all in my head but I have noticed a few differences. I am usually pretty sceptical about “healing properties” but I have noticed that I’m not as stressed out and seem to be all round a bit happier, whether that is because it’s almost summer I don’t know but I would like to believe the stones played a part in it! Whether you believe it or not, for £3 it’s worth a try, right?
